Notice for Online Lunch Payments:

MDUSD has discontinued the use of MySchoolBucks for payments to students’ meal accounts. Please sign up on the new website Titan School Solutions to continue managing your student’s account.

All prior year’s meal account balances were transferred to Titan on Jul. 23, 2018. Please check your Titan account to see the transfer, not MySchoolBucks.  MSB does not show the transfer nor does it have the correct current balance for your account.

If you have a student who has graduated or moved out of district and would like a refund or transfer balance to a sibling, please email William Chong your student’s name, ID number (both students for transfers) and mailing address (for refunds).

Principal Message~

Thank you for coming out to the Pastries with Perkins this morning.  Our time together is very informative and it really does support the overall school climate when we are able to have conversations using the academic data.  Today, the conversation titled, "CAASPP Data Chat"  will support our understanding of the CAASPP data in general and how to use it to inform decision making around curriculum and RTI in our classrooms.  Shannon Ortland will return in May to continue the dialogue.  Have a good weekend.

Below are the links with the requested information from this morning's meeting.  This is the link to the Dashboard This is the CDE link for CAASPP information This is the technical guide, page 19 is where parents can find information on the vertical scales and the methods used to determine the ranges. (VERY technical) This is the link to the A,R &E website (this includes sample score reports, videos, a link to the state website results page, etc.) State Results link where parents can search for district, county and site level results.

I have also attached the scaled score ranges for the both Math and ELA here.

OFFICE HOURS: Our office is open M-F, from 7:30am to 3:00pm. You can reach us at 925-939-5700. Our attendance hotline is 925-682.8000 x7505.

Watch for the Pink Return Status forms to come home. Please return this form as soon as possible. We need to calculate our population for 2019-2020. Also, in the office, are the Student Information Forms. Providing your child with the most appropriate classroom placement in order to maximize learning opportunities is values at Valle Verde Elementary. Parents are an important source of information and a part of this process. Therefore, parents are being provided the opportunity to give the staff information regarding their child. You may pick up the “green sheet” in the office. These forms will not be sent home.

Valle Verde Students in grade levels 3rd- 5th grade will begin the CAASPP Testing on April 29, 2019.  Students in the 5th grade classes are scheduled to take the CAST/Science Testing on April 29-30, 2019.

Every spring, students in grades three through eight and grade eleven take the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments for English language arts/literacy (ELA) and mathematics. These assessments are part of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) System. Results from these assessments are just one piece of information to help teachers, parents, and students understand how well a student is meeting the grade-level expectations. Students do well when we support them during testing.

- Make sure that your child gets adequate rest before testing.

- Make sure that your child eats breakfast before school.

- Encourage your child to do their very best!

Our continued goal at Valle Verde is to keep every student happy, productive and safe on this campus. Please revisit the procedures for our drop off and pick up areas at the front of the school.

  • Remember that during school hours parking lots are only for staff, school buses and handicapped drivers only. These areas are not drop off/pick up zones.
  • Please follow California driving laws. No U-turn should occur at any point along Peachwillow in front of the school. Drive the appropriate speed limit. Slow down and be mindful of pedestrians when passing the front of the school. Do not block the parking lot driveways at any time.
  • Do not park in red zones (red curb) at any time.
  • Use the designated crosswalk when crossing the street, including when you are escorting your child(ren) across the street. When you are driving, please stop for pedestrians in the crosswalks, and remain stopped until all pedestrians are safely out of the crosswalk.
  • Follow the white zone (white curb) procedures. These areas have been designated for the specific purpose of dropping off/picking up students. These designated areas are designed for you to pull as far forward as possible, allow your child to safely enter or exit your vehicle, (preferably on the sidewalk side of your vehicle) then carefully move back out into the flow of traffic on Peachwillow. These areas are not meant for you to park and leave your vehicle. The driver should be at the wheel of the car at all times. If you feel the need to park, leave your car, or walk onto campus, please park on one of the side neighborhood streets away from the white zones.
  • Please note that there are time constrictions on the street signs at the white zones. Although not posted on the signs, the rules apply for early Wednesday release times. Please do not park in these areas during early release on Wednesdays.

Most importantly, model following the law and safety procedures. Practice the life skills of patience, responsibility and cooperation. Walking is good for all of us and may be an enjoyable special time with your child.

VALLE VERDE CHILDREN’S CENTER: Need before and/or after school care?  Valle Verde Children’s Center (VVCC) is a private, non-profit, before and after school program on Valle Verde Elementary School grounds.

We provide your child with a safe, fun and nurturing environment in which to explore many areas such as art, music, sports, science, cooking and computers. We also provide a quiet environment for homework.

We have both full and part-time spots available for children in TK/Kindergarten through 5th grade. We are open from 7 AM - 6 PM, Monday - Friday. We are also open during winter break, spring break, and some holidays. We are closed on major holidays. We also provide an awesome full-day summer program. As a non-profit organization, all of our tuition goes to support our wonderful program.

Also, we are required to have chaperone and insurance information on file. Our files must be renewed every year. The chaperone/driving form has the minimum requirements listed. We also need your Declarations page, listing the coverages. Please be sure to list your last name as well as your students’ last name on the form. Thank you for helping us stream line this process.
