KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION: Kindergarten registration packets will be available in the office on January 16, 2019. The best time to pick up is after 8:30am. Registration is by appointment on Tuesday, February 5, 2019. If you have pre-registered online, you still should attend the Kindergarten Readiness meeting on Feb. 4. This is how you get your appointment for registration. Please bring your printed information to your appointment.  Remember to bring your child’s original birth certificate and immunizations records. Appointments will be available from 8am to 2:30pm in A2. If your child is currently attending Transitional Kindergarten, you do NOT need to pick up a registration packet for Kindergarten. Your child will automatically be enrolled.

If you enroll through AIR online registration, please note that your process IS NOT complete until you visit the office for additional documents. You still have to attend the Kindergarten Readiness Meeting and Kindergarten Registration Day. Any questions, please contact the office at 925-939-5700.

KINDERGARTEN READINESS MEETING: If you are registering a new Transitional Kindergartener or Kindergartener to Valle Verde for the 2019-20 school year, please come to our Kindergarten Readiness meeting on Monday, February 4, 2019, from 5:30-6:30.  We have a wonderful speaker scheduled. You will receive some great tips for getting your child ready to start school in August. At the conclusion of the meeting, you will receive your appointment card for Kindergarten Registration.

Notice for Online Lunch Payments:

MDUSD has discontinued the use of MySchoolBucks for payments to students’ meal accounts. Please sign up on the new website Titan School Solutions to continue managing your student’s account.

All prior year’s meal account balances were transferred to Titan on Jul. 23, 2018. Please check your Titan account to see the transfer, not MySchoolBucks.  MSB does not show the transfer nor does it have the correct current balance for your account.

If you have a student who has graduated or moved out of district and would like a refund or transfer balance to a sibling, please email William Chong your student’s name, ID number (both students for transfers) and mailing address (for refunds).

SNACK BAGS: The office is in need of snack size bags to make our ice bags for students. If you have some to donate, that would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!!

 

NOW SERVING BREAKFAST!!- We will now be offering students a chance to grab something healthy mid-morning. 2nd Chance Breakfast is served during the first recess break and is $2.00. This includes an entrée, fresh fruit and milk. Please click here for the menu for January.

FAMILY LIFE PARENT NIGHT  There will be a parent information and viewing of materials for 5th grade parents for the Rights, Respect, Responsibility, Sexuality Education Curriculum. It will be held in the MUR on  Wednesday, February 6 from 6 - 7 PM.

 

SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL PUBLIC INPUT MEETING: Each year California public schools are required to prepare and/or update a Comprehensive School Site Safety Plan per California Education Code Section 35294.1.

 

Before the Comprehensive School Safety Plan is adopted, the School Site Council or the School Safety Planning Committee shall hold a public meeting at the school site in order to allow members of the community the opportunity to express an opinion about the school’s safety plan. 

 

The date of our school’s public meetings at which the school safety plans will be adopted, is as follows:  February 7, 2019 at 3:00pm in Room C-6.

You are encouraged to attend any of these public meetings.  The meetings will be an excellent opportunity for you to become familiar with the school’s safety plans and to provide input.

 

COIN WAR!-It's a Coin War! Classes are collecting coins and bills through January 23. Proceeds benefit Student Council. There are prizes for the top three classes. Top class receives a pencil and an otter pop for each student. Second place receives an otter pop for each student. Third place receives a pencil for each student. 

The leader board is located on the poster in front of the computer lab and will be updated as the coin war continues.

SPEAKER SERIES- Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 6pm at Mt. Diablo High School

TEACHER OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS FOR 2019-20:  Please see memo HERE for information on the Contra Costa County Teacher of the Year (TOY) 2019-20.  Administrators, teachers, parents, and/or students may nominate classroom teachers who have demonstrated a passion for teaching, an ability to differentiate instruction to meet students’ needs, and teachers who connect with and support their school community. .  All nomination forms must be submitted by Friday, January 23, 2019.

 

FACILITIES MASTER PLAN SURVEY: Mt Diablo Unified School District is embarking on an effort to create a Facilities Master Plan. The information gathered in this questionnaire will provide the District's Facilities Department with a more thorough understanding of the perceived conditions of the schools within their district.

FIELD TRIPS: We love our volunteers!! If you are driving on a field trip, you should have your fingerprints and TB test on file with the district. Also, we are required to have chaperone and insurance information on file. Our files must be renewed every year. The chaperone/driving form has the minimum requirements listed. We also need your Declarations page, listing the coverages. Please be sure to list your last name as well as your students’ last name on the form. Thank you for helping us stream line this process.

 

FAMILY LIFE MATERIALS: Parents of Fifth grade students are invited to preview the materials at Willow Creek Center (1026 Mohr Lane, Concord) Room C-2. The available dates and times are January 28- February 1, 2019 from 8am to 8pm.
